Allowable Ampacity for 268-15-3508 16 AWG 8P Nickel Coated Copper Shield Al Mylar TPPO Okotherm CIC SP-OS 600V Instrumentation Cable:100 Amps
About:
The 268-15-3508 16 AWG 8P Nickel Coated Copper Shield Al Mylar TPPO Okotherm CIC SP-OS 600V Instrumentation Cable. features nickel-coated copper conductors for enhanced corrosion resistance and durability. It includes an aluminum mylar shield for superior protection against electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI). The outer jacket is made of thermoplastic polyolefin (TPPO), which offers excellent resistance to chemicals, heat, and abrasion. The cable is rated for 600 volts and is suitable for continuous use in harsh industrial environments.
Also Known As:
• Nickel Coated Copper Shielded Instrumentation Cable
• TPPO Shielded Control Cable
• Al Mylar Shielded 600V Cable
Application:
• Okotherm CIC 600 volt instrumentation cables are used in systems where, in the event of a fire, circuit integrity is required in order to maintain a process or to safely shut down the process. Fire resistance is determined by compliance to the IEC 60331 circuit integrity fire test. Okotherm CIC cables maintain circuit integrity based on qualification to IEC standard 60331, for all temperatures and times up to and including 2000°F for three hours. When exposed to a fire, the Okotherm CIC insulation becomes an electricallyinsulating ceramic-like ash that is capable of maintaining the operating voltage.
• The isolated individual shields over each pair or triad, when properly grounded, prevent crosstalk or capacitive coupling between adjacent pairs or triads which occurs with ac signals, particularly the pulse type.
• The overall shield eliminates most of the static interference from the electric field radiated by power cables and other electrical equipment. Okotherm CIC 600 volt instrumentation cables should be considered on circuits designed for fire detection and suppression, alarms, communication, circuits requiring redundancy and personnel egress.
Standards:
• UL 1277: Safety Standard for Electrical Power and Control Tray Cables.
• CSA C22.2 No. 230: Tray Cables standards by the Canadian Standards Association.
• IEEE 1202/FT4: Flame Test standards for cables used in industrial applications.
• NFPA 70 (NEC): National Electrical Code for the installation of electrical wiring and equipment.
• IEC 60332-1: Test for vertical flame propagation for a single insulated wire or cable.
• RoHS Compliant: Restriction of Hazardous Substances, ensuring the cable is free from hazardous materials.
Construction:
• Conductors: Class B stranded nickel coated copper.
• Insulation: Okotherm Thermoset Silicone, with FR tape if required.
• Braid: Fiberglass Braid
