Manufacturers We Trust: Alpha Wire

We are starting a series of blogs on our manufacturers to help you better understand the product range of Nassau National Cable. Today, we would like to tell you about Alpha Wire, a top US supplier with a hundred years of history. Alpha Wire has the most extensive presence in our product database. Currently, we sell 458 types of electrical cables manufactured by this company.

Founded in New York City in the early 1920s, the company began as a producer of wire straighteners for the military. Though it has since moved its focus to producing cable and wire, the ties with the military industry remained, as Alpha Wire currently holds the status of one of the top producers of mil-spec wire. In the 1930s and throughout the Second World War, the company produced wires for the radio industry and military. In the post-war era, it became famous as a producer of coaxial cables for the ever-expanding electronics industry.

Currently, Alpha Wire focuses on four primary industries: industrial machines, medical tools, high-tech industry, and military vehicles. While the cables are created to meet these industries' criteria, they are versatile and can also be used to fulfill other purposes. However, Alpha Wire cables have premium pricing  because of their top-notch quality and the fact that they meet the very specific demands of particular industries. The Alpha Wire electrical cables are manufactured in the United States, with factories located in Massachusetts and Illinois.

Types of Alpha Wire Products Sold By Nassau National Cable

Alpha Essentials Cable is a series of cables for everyday use. Most of these cables are suitable for communication and control purposes. While conductors and insulation are very different, most of these are low-voltage cables rated 450 volts and beyond.

Alpha Industrial Series Cable is a series of cables most suited for industrial applications. Some of these cables are marked explicitly as flexible, thus suitable for high-flex industrial applications. Just like with essentials, you can find cables with different conductors, insulation, and shielding. The series includes cables with voltage ratings from 300v to 5400v to suit various industrial needs.

EcoGen is a sub-brand of eco-friendly cables that are fully recyclable. These cables do not contain any polluting materials, including halogens, phalates, and heavy metals. While some modern cables branded as eco-friendly only have halogen-free insulations, EcoGen is entirely free of harmful materials in all its components. EcoGen uses innovative MPPE insulation. The cable is also considerably light with a small diameter.

Xtra-Guard Performance Cable is designed to survive in extreme industrial and military conditions, partly thanks to the unique foil/braid shielding technology. Depending on the particular type of cable, Xtra-Guard can handle temperatures between -50 °C and 125 °C. The cable also has excellent resistance to industrial chemicals, oils, and solvents. Xtra-Guard cables have a subcategory of flex cables that are designed explicitly for high-flex applications. These cables can survive millions of use cycles.

Alpha Hook-up Wire is, self-explanatory, a range of hook-up wires for internal applications. Alpha Wire is one of the top manufacturers of hook-up wire, even though this niche is less known than some of its popular products. Again, the variety of available insulations and conductors is pretty impressive. Though most hook-up wires are low-voltage, Alpha Wire also designs high-voltage hook-up wires up to 120000 volts, which differs from other hook-up wire manufacturers.

Premium, Ribbon And Plenum Cable is a range of pricier cables designed with superior materials for conductors, insulation, and other cable elements. As the name suggests, most of these cables are used in plenum spaces within buildings and internal connections in the electronic systems.
